Increase in Minimum Lobster Carapace Size in LFA 23 (Includes 23A, 23B, 23C, 23D)
Notice to fishers from LFA-23 that the decision has been taken by DFO to allow the minimum size of lobster to be increased to 79mm this year and 81mm in 2023. No decisions yet for LFA-25 and 26A-3. In the case of LFA-25, meetings are scheduled with DFO and PEIFA in April to further discuss the minimum size question.

2022 Measures to Protect North Atlantic Right Whales
Last week, a joint announcement was made on the 2022 measures to protect North Atlantic right whales.
In light of the positive outcomes of 2021, while also recognizing that right whales remain critically endangered, there will be no changes to the measures in 2022.
