As part of the responsible collective management of the snow crab fishery, fish harvesters have pledged to invest in their region, to promote the collective prosperity and the development of community-building projects.

Since 2018, MFU inshore fishermen have invested the benefits obtained from the snow crab fishery in a number of projects and causes, notably playgrounds and school initiatives, and numerous others.

The MFU would like to acknowledge the commitment of the inshore fishermen who were visionaries when creating the Community Impact Program. In addition to having contributed to the development of the lobster resource, we are now in a position to reinvest in our communities, while pursuing our efforts in resource management.
— Gaëtan Robichaud, President of the MFU 2019-2021
After a third year of operation of the Community Impact Program, we are proud to see that the investments of inshore fishermen are more diversified and now extend throughout New Brunswick. Congratulations to all of your for you community involvement!
— Zoël Breau, President of the Board of Directors of Opilio
