Notice of Launch - New Brunswick MFU Membership Drive Program : renewal of membership

Every 4 years, New Brunswick inshore fishermen must choose an organization to represent them. This is a requirement under the New Brunswick Inshore Fisheries Representation Act.

For over 40 years, the Maritime Fishermen's Union (MFU) has worked with owners-operators like you to assert your rights and to have your important contribution to our communities and the province recognized.

We, therefore, ask you to sign your new card and return it to us promptly.

Over the next few weeks, representatives of MFU and your local leaders will be active in encouraging our members to renew their membership.

MFU, because of the experience, knowledge and commitment of its members and staff, is the voice most listened to by governments.

Now more than ever, there is strength in numbers.

Réjean Comeau - MFU President

Martin Mallet - MFU Executive Director - Executive Secretary

Bluefin Tuna : Agreement between Canada and Mexico

An agreement has been reached between Canada and Mexico for the transfer of part of the Mexican bluefin tuna quota. For Canada, this represents an additional 60 tons to be fished. For our fleet, this represents 4,686 tons.

This new allocation will be divided according to the number of tags for each licensee.

The cost to fishermen will be $1.00/lb.

You can contact our Tracadie and Shediac offices now to make payment for your tags.  DFO will then send them to you by mail.
